Blind Dates Can be Very Adventurous - or Not

By Keith Renninson I had a blind date of sorts last week; they are a very adventurous activity. Youve got to love people and be prepared for most anything to happen, because it often does. This lady was nice, engaged with life, lively and entertainingjust not my type. So, as I drove home I examined what "my type" is, and as you might expect, I had many traits and characteristics Id love to find in one female human. Being 58, my list has changed over the few years, no longer do I desire the party girl, the runway model or the driven doctor/lawyer/CEO. I guess you could say I've settled down some. But then my desires in the physical realm are still the same as they were in my twentiesdoes that ever change in men? I dont think so, and realistically, I hope not. Im a fit man, I ski, I race bicycles, I love to hike in the mountains and snorkel in the sea. So, it would follow that Im after an active woman who can be a cowgirl, ski bum, endurance cyclist and still want to get dressed to the nines and go to the opera, theater or just a really nice dinner out. Blind dates are a way for friends of single friends to help out in this endeavor. And God love them, because they do occasionally find someone that fits what youre after. Unfortunately, more often than not, they dont. Its not their fault, they know both people and see them through loving, friendly and helpful eyes. There is absolutely no way they can see what you feel and desire. What no one else can see or experience is the true adventure of chemistry. Chemistry is that wonderful energy that bounces back and forth between two people messing with hormones, libido, and our hearts. We have all experienced it, and we know it when we feel it, and we want it again. Scientists have isolated the areas of the brain that get excited when chemistry is introduced; they can see the cranial juices light up sending out signals all over the place. The bummer is most scientists arent matchmakers. If youre single and looking, dont turn down a blind date, yes, they can be scary and fun, but the alternative is watching old reruns of Law & Order for the 23rd time while eating potato chips and sharing a beer with your dog. (Oh, by the way, if you run across any scientific matchmakers specializing in chemistry, let me know.) Anyway you look at it; its fun to ponder. Keith E. Renninson is a motivational speaker and co-author of the popular parenting tool and illustrated storybook "Zooch the Pooch, My Best Friend". Through the 1990's with much self-examination, academic study, bicycle racing, and mountain climbing, he discovered a renewed zest of life, which included a love of metaphysics, philosophy, humor, and writing and speaking. As Keith says, "Some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue...it's all in what you make of it." Creative Marketing: Just Your Style

By Sara Pedersen You've enlisted some of the traditional marketing
methods to sell your services: you received some
publicity in your local paper; your website is up and
running; and you're listed in the Yellow Pages. So
why isn't the phone ringing off the hook? Maybe
you're marketing strategies need to get more creative! Creative marketing will allow you to attract new
clients, as well as remind past clients that you're still
around. You'll also stand out from the other
professionals in your field: creative marketing gets
you noticed, enticing people to want to know more about
you! And the beauty of creative marketing is that
there is no one right way to do it. Methods that
work -- and feel comfortable -- for you might not
work for others. Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices
flowing: Staying In Touch Rather than relying solely on the phone to stay in
touch, utilize mail and e-mail. It's fast, easy, and tells
your clients that you took the extra time to think of
them. Send birthday cards on your clients' birthdays, or
better yet, send an anniversary card to celebrate the
date when you first worked with a client. Another great option is to send postcards or
newsletters filled with tips. This establishes you as
an expert in your field. Be sure to include an update
of your current services or any special offers you
have. Give-Aways that Work Everyone loves a little gift now and then. Promotional
give-aways can boost your business by showing
appreciation and offering a reminder that you're ready
to help. Steer clear of pens, notepads, and keychains. Your
clients have enough of those. Brainstorm with friends
and your local advertising specialties representative
to find affordable, unique ideas that represent you
and your business. (Look in the Yellow Pages under "Advertising Promotional
Products" for companies near you.)
For
example, at Time to Organize,
my company found an affordable, colorful travel alarm
clock that can double as a desk clock. Imprinted with
my logo and website address, it's a gift that was
useful to my clients and beneficial to my business.
Remember that memorable and useful items are most
appreciated. Getting Visibility Try to draw a little attention wherever you go.
Depending upon how shy (or flamboyant) you are,
you might try something as simple as wearing your
nametag in public to driving around town with
magnetic signs attached to your vehicle that tout your services. Don't be shy about
tooting your own
horn. If you tend to downplay your strengths, fearing
you'll sound brazen, squash that feeling now! As a
small-business owner, you don't have a marketing
department, so you must be your own loudest advocate!
Making others aware of your products and services is
NOT bragging. I hope these ideas jump start your creative thought
process. I would love to hear from YOU about your
creative marketing strategies. What worked best?
What bombed? Happy thinking... Copyright 2005 Time to Organize. All rights reserved. Sara Pedersen, author of the FREE e-zine "The Marketing Fairy's Guide to Simple Self

Top Ten Bridal Gifts

By Richard Romando When looking for the perfect gift for a bride, you try to strike a balance between what she wants and what she needs. What makes the job harder is that you have to pick from hundreds of gift ideas from her bridal registry. However, there are some websites that can help you decide by providing information on the top ten things that brides want. Below are some of the most common items mentioned on these websites. Wedding Gift Ideas Some of the most famous types of gifts are honeymoon gifts. One good idea is to give the couple a guidebook or a travel book of the place where they will be spending their honeymoon. This gift will help them find their way around and visit spots that they should not miss. Another popular gift choice is lingerie, which will surely make any bride even more beautiful and keep the sparks flying during the wedding night. A popular choice for functional wedding gifts is a set of holiday decorations that can help the future wife make their first Christmas or holiday together more memorable. Another gift idea is a compilation of the engagement memories of the couple, which may come in the form of an album or a scrapbook. This will help the bride keep the memories of her shower, engagement party, and other events alive. A similar idea is to give the bride a "history" of the groom's family. A family tree or an album will capture the story and make her know her husband's family better. Gift Ideas for Before the Wedding You may also choose to give the bride an advanced wedding gift that can help her throughout the planning of her wedding. A gift that would be very helpful is a digital camera that can help the bride take pictures of her wedding gown, the shower and other important aspects of the preparation. Another gift that she would really appreciate is a gift certificate to the spa, where she can unwind from the stress of planning a wedding. Another useful gift that can help her release the stress is a book that will make her laugh. You could also have her new name monogrammed on different items like towels or diaries. Lastly, it is very important to remind the bride that getting married will not change who she is, and giving her gifts that you would have given her if she was not getting married can help her realize and affirm this. These gift ideas can help you find that elusive bridal gift that the bride will surely appreciate and remember. Bridal Registry provides detailed information on Bridal Registry, Online Bridal Registry, Bridal Shower Registry, Bridal Registry Ideas and more. Bridal Registry is affiliated with Bridal Shops. Has ADHD Put Your Career in Danger? 3 Steps to Get You Back on Track

By Sarah Jane Keyser "Roger, you must get those contracts completed for this month's sales and don't forget, we have a meeting tomorrow at 9:00. Don't be late again!" Roger was a super salesman, but he risked losing his job because he was too busy rushing from client to client to get his paper work completed. He missed meetings and was disruptive when he did come. His boss saw how his energy and enthusiasm brought in clients, but considered him childishly irresponsible with him and his colleagues. What Roger wouldn't admit and his boss didn't know was that Roger had Attention Deficit with Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD). The hyperactive part gives him lots of energy and enthusiasm to go go when doing what he loves doing: talking about his products, socializing with clients or meeting new people. The attention deficit causes his brain to disconnect when doing boring stuff like completing forms, attending meetings or dealing with colleagues. AD/HD is a neurological difference in the brain. The ADHD brain can be very effective when following a passion but shuts down when doing the daily grind. Medication is helpful for some but often not sufficient. Coaching provides positive support and guidance for anyone with ADHD but especially for those who don't want to take medication. The difficulty for Roger was that he often forgot to get information or would lose the paper he had written it on, and he found the contract forms confusing. Through several coaching sessions and much prodding, Roger designed a form that was logical to him for collecting and recording all the data he needed and fixed a time in his agenda to complete each contract. He first resisted but with repeated support and encouragement he became adept at completing contracts. Once he understood that he was not just a "naughty boy", as he had been told so often, but that he had been struggling with a brain that was superbly creative when working with clients but just not designed for administrative work. To his surprise and joy, he was able to relax at home. He had never realized how unfinished business drained his energy and made him irritable. While he found clients stimulating, with colleagues and family he had relational problems which are typical of those with ADHD. At first Roger was huffy; "People should take me as I am!" But once he mastered his contracts, he felt more relaxed and saw that it could be helpful to have a fresh look at his colleagues. Roger reviewed his social skills and decided that he needed to work on listening skills. Soon he was on a roll. Appreciation from his colleagues at work for the "NEW Roger" made all the difference. To most people the tasks Roger had difficulty with seem trivial and obvious, but they are typical of what makes life so difficult for people with ADHD. If you feel your career might be in jeopardy due to problems like Roger's, here are three steps for you. 1. Acknowledge the problem. Admitting to yourself that things aren't working is often difficult for people with ADHD. Listen to your friends and family. 2. Get help. If you could do it yourself, you wouldn't be where you are today. 3. Prepare to change. You need to rethink your world view and your way of doing things. Start today. Sarah Jane Keyser worked for many years with computers as programmer, analyst, and user trainer, but her struggle with inattentive ADD kept getting in the way of her plans and dreams. Once ADD was identified and the great need that coaching filled, she added ADD Coach training (ADDCoach Academy) to complete her preparation for a new career as ADD Coach. The 3 Secret Clues That Tell If She Is Attracted To You

By Kenny Bangler Figuring out women can be difficult at best, and many men wonder how they will ever know if a woman really is interested. If you want to know if a woman is truly into you, there are a variety of different signs that you should be looking for. While women can, at times, seem mysterious, there are surefire ways that you can know if she is really interested in you. Check on these various points of subtle body language and in no time, you'll know if it is the real deal. Clue That Tells If She Is Attracted To You #1: "Eye Contact" If you really want to know if she is interested in you, you need to check out her eyes. They tell the whole the story. It's amazing that so many guys forget this, because deep down inside they all know it. When a woman is truly interested, her eyes will be focused completely on you. You'll be able to feel her attention. However, if she is not interested, her eyes will probably be scanning the room and the scenery. Imagine if Michael Jordan was about to explain his biggest basketball secret to a 12 year old fan. How would the kid look at Jordan? Do you get the point? Great eye contact will let you know if she likes you, and you'll also want to look for dilated eyes, because they are a natural indicator and she has no control over it. Clue That Tells If She Is Attracted To You #2: "Nervousness" If the woman you are with seems to be nervous, there's a good chance she is really interested in you. Nervousness can come across in a variety of different ways, such as fidgeting, playing with her hair, or even biting on her lower lip. While many guys believe that her nervousness is bad sign, it can actually be a "secret revealer" that exposes her interest level. Whenever people finds themselves in situations where they don't want to screw up, there is a natural tendency to get nervous. Nervousness is simply the emotional response associated with not knowing what to do + a fear of experiencing an undesirable outcome. For example, a woman may get nervous during a conversation with a new guy, because she doesn't want to ruin her chances of getting the guy to ask for her phone number. Clue That Tells If She Is Attracted To You #3: "Opening Up" If a woman starts to open up to you during the conversation, it's a huge indicator that she could be interested. After your first conversations go beyond the weather and other general topics, you'll want to pay attention to "self-revealing" talk. If she begins to talk a bit about herself, particularly what type of woman she is, you'll know that she is subtly trying to make herself more desirable in your eyes. Low Voltage Outdoor Lighting

By Marcus Peterson Once the design and type of outdoor lighting fixture is selected, the next important question is voltage. Outdoor light fixtures are available in either 12-volt or 120-volt versions and for houses the best deal is low voltage outdoor lighting. These are easier to install as the system runs on harmless 12-volt current with light weight wiring laid on the ground or buried just below surface. The 120-volt system on other hand is same as used in interior of house and requires precautions and handling. The advantage of high voltage outdoor lighting is that it is permanent using buried conduit whereas the low voltage outdoor lighting is that is easily damaged due to superficial placement of wires. With expenses climbing the graph we need economical trimmings. A saving advantage of low-voltage outdoor lighting is that one does not need a professional for installation. The money saved can be spent on high-quality fixtures and landscaping. Some low voltage light fixtures work on solar energy and once charged work when sensors activate the lights on sunset. Another advantage of low voltage outdoor lighting is that smaller and compact fixtures are flexible and can be activated by timers, motion detection or switches. This is an advantage as compared with high or regular voltage lighting fixtures that require conduits and labor to fix wiring. The size and design of low voltage outdoor lighting fixtures help add to the aesthetics of surrounding. The reason they can be safely hidden or placed in nooks and corners, waterfalls, bushes or exterior of buildings and residences. The drawback is that to highlight a particular area more fixtures are needed. Quality also matters in that if inexpensive crack and corrode due to extreme temperature or corrosion. The inconvenience ends here as low voltage outdoor lighting once installed requires minimum attention. Nevertheless a perfectionist or cleanliness freak would like to coat sockets with silicon - based lubricants once a year, clean accumulating debris in up-lifting fixtures and replace dead lamps to avoid unused voltage. Low voltage outdoor lighting is aesthetically safe, economical and energy efficient with performance comparable to a 120 volt system. Outdoor Lighting provides detailed information about outdoor lighting, decorative outdoor lighting, low voltage outdoor lighting and more. Outdoor Lighting is affiliated with Gazebos. Polyphonic Ringtones

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Tsan_Trinh]Tsan Trinh Mobile music is music, which is downloaded to cell phones and played by cell phones. Although many cell phones play music as ringtones, true polyphonic ringtones are music which does not contain artists voices or instrumental performances. Usually cell phone ringtones are encoded using the MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) or similar encoding formats, many of which have been developed for mechanical music delivery. The cell phone music market initially started with monophonic ringtones. Monophonic ringtones were the earliest form of ringtones, and played one tone at a time. Polyphonic ringtones are ringtones that make use of polyphony. Many cell phones make use of such ringtones as they offer customers more options in customization. Polyphonic ringtones are much more sophisticated than regular monophonic ringtones. With increasing market and technology development the number of voices was steadily increased. This was improved upon with polyphonic ringtones, which played several tones at the same time so a more convincing melody could be created. For sure, polyphonic ringtones are better than monophonic ringtones. However, they still sound more like an old video game than real music. Polyphonic ringtones are the successor of monophonic ringtones but the immediate predecessor to true tone ringtones. This is in contrast to MP3 ringtones, for example, which will play digitally sampled recordings. True tones are the most popular form of ringtones. They capture 3/4 of the US ringtone market in the second quarter of 2006, followed by monophonic ringtones and polyphonic ringtones and ringback tones. But monophonic and polyphonic ringtones are falling in popularity while ringback tones are growing. Monophonic and polyphonic ringtones only require the payment of the publishing royalty. Some polyphonic ringtones are downloadable for free. You can customize your cell phone with so many different kind of ringtones: 80's polyphonic ringtones, advertising polyphonic ringtones, latin polyphonic ringtones, video games polyphonic ringtones, musical polyphonic ringtones, cartoon / manga polyphonic ringtones, classical polyphonic ringtones, dance polyphonic ringtones, country polyphonic ringtones, seasonal / festive polyphonic ringtones, hip-hop / rap polyphonic ringtones, jazz polyphonic ringtones, national anthems polyphonic ringtones, oldies polyphonic ringtones, pop polyphonic ringtones, remix / drum n bass polyphonic ringtones, rnb / soul polyphonic ringtones, rock / metal polyphonic ringtones, sound / special effect polyphonic ringtones, sports polyphonic ringtones, religious polyphonic ringtones, electronica / techno polyphonic ringtones, themes (movies, tv) polyphonic ringtones and other miscellaneous polyphonic ringtones. The One Hard, No Exceptions Rule With Regard To Online Dating

By Chris A. Cameron Online dating is no longer the pariah that it was back in say, 2000. Almost every single person I know has tried it between then and now. Hell, Ive even tried it. Its not as bad as some say it is. As far as Im concerned, there is one hard rule when it comes to online dating, and Ill let you in on it shortly. Let me tell you first, about a friend of mine. I have one friend who was so jaded with regard to relationships and dating, that she had been single for about 3 years. Her past experiences with men were so negative, that shed rather not risk getting into another relationship with anyone. Her last boyfriend would go to the bar, and once he was good and liquored up, he would call her from there to let her know that she should move out of their apartment, because he had found someone else. Every other time that he went to the bar, he would do this. And yet, she stayed with him. This was not someone that she found online. This was someone that she knew from work, and had begun dating. After finally breaking up with him (she stayed with him for 3 years), she decided that she would rather be single than be involved with men again, who, in her opinion, were all basically dishonest cheats. After 3 years of literal celibacy, she decided that maybe she should get over her general distrust of men, and I convinced her to try online dating, because I had done it for awhile, and hadn't yet found "the one", but I met some really nice people. On my friends first date, she thought that she might be a tad late, so she called this dude to let him know that. As it turned out, she was right on time, but as she got to the restaurant, she received a text message from him saying that he was in the parking lot, and that she should call him when she entered the store (coffee shop). Red flag #1. In our conversation about this, she distinctly asked me, Do you think thats weird? To which I replied, Dont YOU think its weird? You should. This guy also said in his profile that he was 60 tall. When he came into the coffee shop, it turned out that he was much closer to 58 than six feet. Red flag #2. She ignored it because she thought they got along so well. That should have been the only time that she met him. Remember this about online dating; someone who lies about something as obvious as his/her height or weight, will lie about anything. On their second date, she went to his house to watch a movie. At which time, he told her that he had guns at his place (that she never saw), because he used to be a security guard. Then, he told her that hes also in the British Army, and thats also why he has guns. Okay people, we dont live anywhere near Britain. Red flags #3 and #4!! Then she asked me if I thought he was being truthful. I was astounded. I wanted to reach out and shake her! Do you want to know why she actually decided to stop seeing this dude? Because he doesn't like Oprah! All of that other nonsense was acceptable to her, but dude doesn't like Oprah, and she dumps him! The one hard rule about online dating? Follow your gut. Obviously, my friend was skeptical about whether or not this dude was telling the truth. She had that feeling in her gut, but chose not to follow it. Thank God he told her that he doesn't like Oprah, or who knows how much she would have put up with. Follow your gut. If something doesnt seem right, run. Run far, and run fast. Dont look back. If a woman tells you on your first date that shes on medication for depression, run. Not to sound unsympathetic, but if shes giving you that information on the first date, she most likely has problems that are much bigger than that. If after your first date, the other party calls you on your way home, to ask, Well, what did you think? Do you think were a match? Run. And keep running. Follow your gut. I cant say it enough. If it just doesnt feel right, run. Heres to great dating! Chris A. Cameron Copyright 2006 Chris A. Cameron All Rights Reserved.
