This pyramid shows the different motivators and needs in a persons life and how they are built one upon the other. Its presented as the foundation of human motivation and then its dropped. Id like to present to you a way to use Maslows needs pyramid so that you can get inside the consumers mind and develop an understanding of whats truly motivating them as they consider purchasing your product or service. Maslows needs pyramid present human needs such that each need is pursued and met before the next level of needs can be considered; they build upon one another. The needs from most basic to most complex are: physiological needs: food, shelter, sex
safety needs: clothing, weapons, defense of self
social needs: social acceptance
esteem needs: acceptance of self by self
fulfillment needs: a feeling of having and fulfilling a purpose So the question is, How do we use this paradigm to get inside the consumers head? Lets consider a personal fitness training service. Heres how it works at the most basic level. Place yourself in the position of the consumer and think as if you are considering hiring a personal fitness trainer. 1. How will personal fitness training impact my acquisition and use of food? Of shelter? Of sexual behavior? (Now you see why sex is used in marketing so many products we react to it instinctually) 2. How will personal fitness training impact my personal safety?

Losing Fat in Specific Areas: Is it Possible
By Ross Harrison Most people are looking to improve certain parts of their body. Common concerns are excess flab around the stomach, under the arms, or in any number of other areas. There is a general belief that performing specific exercises will help people lose more fat in certain areas of the body. This is typically known as spot reduction and it is a popular concept, but does it really work? The simple answer to this question is no, spot reduction is a myth. However, no matter how often this is said, people still want to believe they can lose fat in a particular area by exercising specific muscles. As a result, people often end up doing many exercises to isolate specific muscles, especially the abdominals and arms, hoping to burn fat in those specific areas. Unfortunately, this is not the way the human body loses fat. You will lose fat throughout your entire body with any type of exercise, regardless of the muscles being used. Exercising specific muscles will however make them stronger, firmer, and improve their appearance, which can create an illusion that more fat is being lost in those areas. Believe it or not, performing excess exercises for the abs and arms at the expense of other muscles will ultimately decrease your overall fat loss. Exercises that isolate the abdominals, biceps, or triceps have a smaller impact on the body than exercises that use larger muscles or incorporate many different muscles at one time. Exercises such as squats, lunges, chest/shoulder presses, and back rows/pulldowns have much greater physiological effects on calorie burning, hormonal adaptations, overall fitness, and of course fat loss. While it is true that exercising any muscle causes fat loss throughout the body, it does not mean that fat will be lost evenly. There is one factor that does have a significant impact on where you lose fat and that is your genetics. Most people have specific areas where they easily accumulate fat or store a proportionally larger amount of fat compared to the rest of their body. These are commonly referred to as problem areas and they will vary from person to person. Problem areas are typically the first to gain fat and the last to lose it, so they are often significant obstacles to long-term fat loss. Luckily there is one approach that is generally successful in dealing with problem areas, but it may not what you want to hear. The key is dedication and consistency with your nutrition, as well as variety and progression with your exercise. Initially you may not lose fat from the areas you want, but if you stick with it, you will start losing fat from those problem areas. If on the other hand, you have good eating and workout habits some or even most of the time, you may experience some positive fat loss, but once you stop exercising or start eating poorly, the fat you lost from your problem areas will be the first to return. Obviously there are some tragic exceptions, but the majority of racing drivers involved in high-speed accidents climb out of their wrecked cars, dust themselves off and trudge back to the pits with not a whiplash injury in sight. If you or I had just hit a wall of tyres or bounced off another car at over 100mph, it's fair to say that whiplash would probably be the last thing on our minds. But today's top-of-the-range racing cars give the driver enormous protection, usually enabling him to survive uninjured inside what has, in all essence, become a giant lump of expensive scrap metal. Just to demonstrate the point, it's worth casting the mind back several weeks to the Formula One San Marino Grand Prix at the infamous Imola circuit. This is the track that took the life of Roland Ratzenberger and the legendary Ayrton Senna more than a decade ago, and although the circuit has been made distinctly less dangerous since that fateful May afternoon, it still has some wicked bends and testing turns. Anyway, April 23rd 2006 witnessed a car crash involving Christijan Albers that saw his MF1-Toyota spinning through the air before crashing to the ground and coming to rest face-down in the gravel. The Dutchman's car had been clipped at the rear by an overeager Japanese driver, and such a devastating accident would surely have killed someone in a regular road car. The 27-year-old described the car accident, saying, "I think I went upside down about four times. It all went really quick and before I knew it I was in the gravel. After I walked away from the crash I saw my car looked completely destroyed, but I haven't even got a bruise on my body. That's how safe Formula One is nowadays." Not having to worry about greater objects will put you at ease with the machine itself and would help you get accustomed to the work. Dont panic when something gets wrong: finish the stitches and try to edit it afterwards. Another big point to be made here is the support of the sewing machine: you have to change the needle frequently, also when finishing a certain design. A Perfect World
By Robert Curtis We all have our own opinion on what a perfect world would be. The details are as diverse as every individual that has, ever will, or presently lives in the world. While we have our own diverse and cultural differences, I would propose that there are some common basics upon which we can all agree and move forward to build up society from: (1) Individual Rights
(2) Absolute Respect
(3) Willingness to Serve Individual Rights: Simply stated, you have the limited right to do as you please. This means your rights are restricted by their effect on other individuals rights. A bit of common sense, here. Lets get rid of the need for lawyers and work things out together. Lets talk out our solutions. You cant scream in someones face and claim free speech. Sorry. Doesnt work. You can not get your own way by bullying intimidation. Not in a perfect world.
If its not morally correct, dont expect to be supported by the masses. The minority opinions will no longer rue the day. They will not be supported in favor of common sense and the majoritys wishes. Get used to it. In a perfect world there would not be any race or class distinctions because we are all children of God. We all have similar hopes, dreams, and aspirations. Absolute Respect: We have the inherent right to believe and practice our beliefs so long as they do not physically injure or restrict other individuals against their will. Common sense, again. We dont need to rely on lawyers anymore. Work it out. Individuals who persist in perverting the chosen ways of the people and attempting to impose their views or enforce their opinions upon others, interrupting the rejoicings of individuals in their own good and socially acceptable living will be turned away and expelled from among the people and society. Serpent, or individuals who persist in being and teaching evil will be permanently removed from society. Common sense recognizes evil for what it is. Willingness to Serve: This should be a given. We live together in peace and harmony. Most effectively when we are willing to help one another. No coercion. No compulsion. Willingly step forward and lend a hand to all who are in need.
This assumes there are no poor.
This assumes there will be no tolerance for social laziness.
We must all work to eat. We all can do something. This would, of course, cause major changes in the occupational forces. There would be no need for police, military, or court and legal systems. Banking systems would evolve into informational and technology tracking systems. The Stock Market exchanges would virtually disappear. The insurance industry would no longer be necessary. Retirement would be a personal decision. Production would be based entirely upon consumption. Research and Development would be driven by actual need.
This assumes the abolishing of monetary systems completely. Why does someone need to have more than someone else, just for the sake of having more? In this instance, the pursuit and/or obsession to have more is pure selfishness. It is gain for the sake of gain. The elimination of all monetary systems would abolish greed, giving us the opportunity and obligation to work for the common good of all. We could work in occupations we are good at and contribute meaningfully to society in a positive way. We would no longer be bound by concerns over wages and the size of our paychecks. We must all learn to contribute to society because we want to.
Because we can. Because we all wish to work for the common good of one another. No rich, no poor, but all equally eligible to obtain sufficient for our needs. Happiness, ultimately, is not in having the most toys when you die. It is in having the most friends while you live. True friends are those individuals whom we willingly facilitate and serve. True friends are those individuals whom we love to be with and spend time with. True friends are individuals who lift, support, and encourage us. Weight Loss Problems - Or is it a Self Image Problem?
By Greg Ryan Some of you will not like what I have to say, even though it is the truth. And that may be where the problem of Americans health problems lies. No one wants to give you the truth. My responsibility as a high profile fitness expert lies not in if you like me, or even if you buy my e books. My responsibility lies in giving you straight talk with no sugar coating it. You want quick fixes to your health problem that has taken years to develop. You get it by purchasing gimmicks that promise you fast results. You fall for it, and at the end of the day you are more frustrated than every. Why? Because you are denying the root of your problem. Do you have a weight problem of a self image problem? What ever it is you need to get to the bottom of it. Where down the line did you develop the idea that you do not deserve to feel better and look good? How in your life said, You are not worthy of good health? And when did you by into the notion that someone had a right to take your self esteem away from you. No one has that right, but you do have that choice. Americas have more of an approach to weight loss and fitness problem rather than a numbers problem. Your weight problems come down to how you fell about yourself. Dont blame it on this product failing or that person not allowing you to succeed, or even there is no time. None sense! I have counseled thousands of people over my twenty year tender as a personal trainer, health club consultant and best selling author. And in all my travels, the answers to peoples problems with weight come down to one thing: how you feel about yourself. My approach with people is, either you pay a price now or you will pay a bigger price down the road. I am really tired of dancing around and trying to pat people on the back and say, Its OK you can do it. When all the while, most I know are in the least bit serious about their health, and have no idea what they are in for down the road.
