Kids Don't Grow Up Wanting to Die!

By Randy Redhawk I have been watching the news and reading papers from all over the last couple of weeks. I have read web blogs, letters to the editor.... I have seen many things to cry about. I see people pointing fingers at the current President, I see people pointing to a lack of God and parents and many other excuses for teen suicides. On television I watch as 10,000 kids die each day of starvation. I see kids running our streets with no place to go, I see trash, I see drunk drivers slapped on the wrist. I see the jobless, and I see unemployment, I see low wages for those that do work. I see Senator's and other State officials are lying to our police departments, as well as to the public. I see the family drunks in convenience stores buying beer with food stamps, and I am sure they are not feeding that to the baby. I see boys and girls at our schools laughed at because they do not have nice clothes or their shoes ripped and worn to pieces. I see working mothers crying hoping they can find a better way for their children, I see children crying without their mother. I see fathers long-gone wondering if the kid was really theirs. I see drug dealers. I met a man today that smokes marijuana but does not know where his next check will come from. I saw a man that works twelve hours a day and belongs to two churches telling his son he did not have time to play ball. I saw a coach using foul language to the ten and eleven year-olds on his team... but lets get that part straight, regardless of age, a foul mouth is not something good men share with any boy, girl or teen. I see voters unhappy about their reps voting against a ban on cockfighting. I see child protection laws being thrown out, and drunk drivers getting pats on the back. I see great men and women leaders worldwide dying of old age that will not be remembered by many, including grandpa, grandma, uncle, aunt, son, daughter... while thugs, liars, criminals fill up our televisions and newspapers. I see biased media and reporters. I see media making trivial things into works of awe inspiring garbage, while the real art goes unnoticed. Yes, this last two weeks there is a lot to cry about. Then again there is every week, and each week it becomes worse, there seem to be less tears, at least from most people. Are we hardening our hearts to our neighbors, their children, their homes.. Our neighbors? Its pretty bad out there, real life. The message is being sent to every household in America. To every teen, to every child. There is no hope. As a guest speaker for a Native American Pow-wow a few years ago near Battle Creek Michigan, I was asked to speak about the Native American Community helping each other instead of bickering with each other. What I said then, is just as important this week to the world, as it was to them. We come to this circle with open arms, hoping for the best for our families and ourselves. We listen to our leaders. We obey even when it does not sit well in our hearts. We condemn the outside world for wanting our ways of life and peace, yet many of us grasp their ways and have no peace. We do for each other, we work day and night and then come to the circle for peace in our lives. Maybe sometimes we forget how big this circle of life is, maybe we put our ways too high on a pedestal and cannot leave them behind when we come to the circle. Maybe we forget how important our children our to our futures, our mother earth, our very sanity. Maybe we forget our veterans who in the circle we honor and forget when we are outside. Maybe we learn from our teachers, but they should not be teaching. Maybe there are good teachers and we are not listening. Quiet now, listen to the music of the wind, the birds, smell the blossoms, close your eyes and sniff the goodness of the land, the blue sky, the warm earth. Keep your eyes closed and imagine a blue circle. Imagine that is us. Now imagine all the pow wows in the nation going on at the same time on that blue circle. Make the circle bigger, and bigger yet. The circle of life does not stop when you leave the circle of the pow wow. The circle of life is as mighty as the four winds, bigger than the sky. If you have chosen to be a part of the circle then remember the circle is all of the earth, and each person and animal on it. The Creator commands us to be caretakers of the earth. The trees, the animals, our old and young, our veterans and mothers, but most of all our neighbors. Remember we are riding on the this planet, and it is up to us to make it better, if children and teens are going to survive they must believe there is hope to change the things they believe they cannot change. Each of us can make a difference, one voice is all it takes. If you make it a billion voices, it will change dramatically, no teacher, no church, no political system can do that. Only you - the parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles and friends can do that. You can change anything. Just cry out. Believe me, I do it each week and see those changes. Maybe the media, maybe our leaders have forgotten these things. Let us hope that you remember them, you teach them to your children, because they our are future, give them the hope now to accomplish that goal, give them the hope they need to survive. How BIG is Your Marketing Budget?

By Bette Daoust, Ph.D. Lets face it, most of us do not want to spend a lot of money on marketing. Consultants typically would rather make an attack on a front that does not cost much. Although there are many ways that this can be done, it should only be a part of the arsenal used. So how much should be spent? Spending really depends on how much money is earned from a consulting gig. If a typical engagement brings $5,000 and it takes 2 to 3 weeks to gain the contract, then spending over $500 would be belt tightening. However, if your marketing plan is to use that money for being in the right place at the right time, then it will be well spend and likely get you another project to work on. As a consultant you will spend time on researching where to go in order to make sure you are in the right place at the right time. The $500 will be used for entrance to the event, buying food or drink for your target client, follow-up materials for the contacts you make, and subsequent travel, materials, and phone calls. Research, however, is the key to making this expenditure fruitful. Without the research, you could attend many events and never get anywhere or close to obtaining a contract. So what needs to happen when doing research? First, make sure you know the profile of the ideal client. That means every detail that is relevant to obtaining the contract. Make notes on the size of the organization, the typical entry point that is successful for you, the size of the budget they need to have for your services, the types of problems that are normal for this type of company, who is responsible for solving the problem, who makes the decisions, who approves the funding, how the process for payment works, how long it takes to become a vendor, where you can run into the ideal contact, plus anything else that ties into your expertise. Second, create a process for getting your research completed. This means, decide where you will get the information newspapers, Dun & Bradstreet, Google, and any other place that will give you good accurate information. Also find out if anyone you know has a contact within that organization. This can be a good starting point for up-to-date projects. Also, when scanning newspapers or online sources, look to see what jobs they are trying to fill. This sometimes gives you a good clue as to new projects. Last, armed with the research, you can begin to execute your marketing plan with knowledge rather than just hope. Call the right people, or at least attend an event where you can meet the ideal contact. Start the action steps from the plan and if you need help, hire someone or use a professional. The money will be well spent. Just remember that great things happen one step at a time, do not put all your efforts into one company, do at least ten at a time. If you connect with only one or two people a day then you will have contacted 40 each month for a total of 480 for the year. Out of that many connections, at least 5% (24) will become a project as long as the contacts are the ones that need the services you are offering. Has ADHD Put Your Career in Danger? 3 Steps to Get You Back on Track

By Sarah Jane Keyser "Roger, you must get those contracts completed for this month's sales and don't forget, we have a meeting tomorrow at 9:00. Don't be late again!" Roger was a super salesman, but he risked losing his job because he was too busy rushing from client to client to get his paper work completed. He missed meetings and was disruptive when he did come. His boss saw how his energy and enthusiasm brought in clients, but considered him childishly irresponsible with him and his colleagues. What Roger wouldn't admit and his boss didn't know was that Roger had Attention Deficit with Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD). The hyperactive part gives him lots of energy and enthusiasm to go go when doing what he loves doing: talking about his products, socializing with clients or meeting new people. The attention deficit causes his brain to disconnect when doing boring stuff like completing forms, attending meetings or dealing with colleagues. AD/HD is a neurological difference in the brain. The ADHD brain can be very effective when following a passion but shuts down when doing the daily grind. Medication is helpful for some but often not sufficient. Coaching provides positive support and guidance for anyone with ADHD but especially for those who don't want to take medication. The difficulty for Roger was that he often forgot to get information or would lose the paper he had written it on, and he found the contract forms confusing. Through several coaching sessions and much prodding, Roger designed a form that was logical to him for collecting and recording all the data he needed and fixed a time in his agenda to complete each contract. He first resisted but with repeated support and encouragement he became adept at completing contracts. Once he understood that he was not just a "naughty boy", as he had been told so often, but that he had been struggling with a brain that was superbly creative when working with clients but just not designed for administrative work. To his surprise and joy, he was able to relax at home. He had never realized how unfinished business drained his energy and made him irritable. While he found clients stimulating, with colleagues and family he had relational problems which are typical of those with ADHD. At first Roger was huffy; "People should take me as I am!" But once he mastered his contracts, he felt more relaxed and saw that it could be helpful to have a fresh look at his colleagues. Roger reviewed his social skills and decided that he needed to work on listening skills. Soon he was on a roll. Appreciation from his colleagues at work for the "NEW Roger" made all the difference. To most people the tasks Roger had difficulty with seem trivial and obvious, but they are typical of what makes life so difficult for people with ADHD. If you feel your career might be in jeopardy due to problems like Roger's, here are three steps for you. 1. Acknowledge the problem. Admitting to yourself that things aren't working is often difficult for people with ADHD. Listen to your friends and family. 2. Get help. The Infamous Great Harlot: Who is She?

By Nevada York The Bible is inundated with symbolism and literalism. However, unless one is a theologian, its rather difficult to understand the many symbolic meanings in the Bible. For example, the book of Revelation describes A fiery red dragon waiting to devour a child from the woman giving birth, A beast rising up out of the sea with seven heads and ten horns, or The Great Harlot who made the inhabitants of the earth drunk with the wine of her fornication. What do these symbols mean? For the purpose of this article, I will focus on the identity of the Great Harlot. Who is she and what clues does the Bible give in her description? In ancient Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans had an organized religious systemsometimes referred to as Mysteries. Those behind the Babylonian religious system initiated the Mysteries. In his book, The Two Babylons, author Alexander Hishop maintains that the Babylonian Mysteries required the people to be bound neck and heel to the priest for the priest were the only depositions of religious knowledge; they (priest) only had the true tradition of how religion could be interpreted and without blind and implicit submission to the Babylon priest, what was necessary for salvation could not be known to the people. Many say that the Roman Catholic Church represents the Great Harlot. Is it possible that the Harlot stands for something more? Revelation further explains: The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries. This title was written on her forehead: MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. (Rev. 17:4-5) How does the Great Harlot get the inhabitants of the world drunk? We must go back a bit, remember Babylon is famous for the Tower of Babel, where Nimrod organized a rebellion towards God. Due to this rebellion, God scattered the people and mixed their language. Yet the scattered people retained knowledge of the pagan religion. Not to mention, the inhabitants of Babylon had common knowledge of a prophetic scripture: And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her Offspring; He will bruise and tread your head underfoot, and you will lie in wait and bruise His heel. (Genesis 3:15.) Although this scripture was fulfilled once Jesus Christ defeated Satan at the cross, the people of Babylon distorted the truth of the scripture. They knew a womans seed (not a man and woman) would bring forth a Son (the Messiah) miraculously. The Babylonians wrongfully worshipped Semiramis, a woman deity and her son, Tammuz. From Babylon the origin of worshipping a Mother deity and Child continued spreading to the ends of the Earth. In Egypt, the woman deity and her son were worshipped under the names Isis and Osiris. In India, Isi and Iswara, in Asia, as Cybele and Deoius, Shing Moo, the Holy Mother in China (Hislop). Most interesting, in the Roman Catholic Church, the Virgin Mary follows the same pattern. Just consider the symbolic description of the Great Harlot: A woman holding a cup of wine which causes the entire world to get drunk. In 1825, Pope Leo XII, struck a medal bearing on the one side his own image and on the other, that of the Church of Rome symbolized as a Woman, holding in her left hand a cross, and in her right a CUP, with the legend around her Sedet Super Universum, which translates The whole world is her seat. Whenever someone claims to see an image of the Virgin Mary news organizations clamor to televise it. Just this year, someone paid over $20,000 for a piece of bread that was supposed to contain her image. The sightings of apparitions of the Virgin Mary have increased over the centuries. The Roman Catholic Church reveres Mary. Would you be surprised to know that the Muslims revere Mary also? Catholics and Muslims both use the rosary, also known as sibhah to Muslims. Rev. Charles Dickson, Ph.D., explains Mary has a universal appeal that transcends over cultural, geographical, and even religious boundaries. Many believe that the Virgin Mary will be used a stepping stone to connect a universal one-world religion under the same umbrella. People get emotional just at the sight of an image of the Virgin Mary and when these images speak the world appears to be spellbound. Hislop claims in his book, The image of the beast is pronounced to be the Virgin Mother or the Madonna. This isnt hard to fathommany worship and pray to Mary via the Catholic Church. Image will have both life and voice, and will be an effective agent of Papal clergy, who will make it speak exactly as they please. People need to consider who they are praying to. According to the Bible, neither the Virgin Mary, nor the saints (Paul, Peter, Thomas, etc), or Allah, can offer salvation. For the Bible states, "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name (Jesus Christ of Nazareth) under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)" What is the fate of the Great Harlot? And the ten horns that you saw, they and the beast will [be the very ones to] hate the harlot (the idolatrous woman); they will make her cheerless (bereaved, desolate), and they will strip her and eat up her flesh and utterly consume her with fire. For God has put it into their hearts to carry out His own purpose by acting in harmony in surrendering their royal power and authority to the beast, until the prophetic words (intentions and promises) of God shall be fulfilled (Rev. 17:16-17). The ten horns are the confederated kingdoms of the Anti-Christ and for whatever reason turns against the harlot and consumes her with fire. Revelations describes the future Babylon with the same characteristics of the Harlot before its ultimate destruction. For all nations have drunk the wine of her passionate unchastity, and the rulers and leaders of the earth have joined with her in committing fornication (idolatry), and the businessmen of the earth have become rich with the wealth of her excessive luxury and wantonness. (Rev. 18:3) Pastor John Hagee put this in perspective: Babel introduced the first organized, idolatrous religious system in the history of the world. Thats why Apostle John calls Babylon the Mother of Harlots (Rev 17:5). Babylon was the birthplace (mother) of spiritual adultery. It makes sense that the Great Harlot will end where she began. To many the symbolism through out Revelation is a deterrent, people say they dont understand it. However, Revelation makes a promise few books in the Bible do. Jesus promises: And behold, I am coming speedily. Blessed (happy and to be envied) is he who observes and lays to heart and keeps the truths of the prophecy (the predictions, consolations, and warnings) contained in this [little] book. (Rev:7) You are blessed for simply reading the book of Revelation, read it. You may understand it more than you think. She talked with her girlfriends about them. She tried, mostly unsuccessfully, to talk to him about them. Here are a few factors of a better understanding of the bass. SURVIVAL: Largemouth bass need three elements to survive: Food, Oxygen, and cover. If any one of these elements is not present in a body of water a bass could not survive, just by knowing why these three elements are so important for a basss survival will help you to become a more successful angler. The first element we talk about is FOOD. Believe it or not, shad is NOT the 1st choice of a bass. Shad is a very common food for the bass as well as other natural baits, however the number 1 food choice of a bass is a crawfish (also know as crawdads, crayfish, etc.). A few years ago a study was done where 100 shad and 100 Crawfish were in a tank of water with all species of bass (Spotted, Smallmouth, Largemouth) and Surprise the crawfish were eaten 8 to 2 over the shad. A couple of reasons for this are that the crawfish are a very easy prey for a bass to catch and they are fairly easy for bass to find. Studies show that there are actually more crawfish found in vegetation areas than around rocky areas (or as some may know as Rip-Rap). By knowing water oxygen content in various areas and angler will develop a better understanding why a bass acts the way it does under the many different conditions. When a bass has a limited supply of oxygen, it tends to get more disoriented, and much slower or lethargic. The Key in understanding the rules of oxygenic water is that the cooler the water, the more oxygen content and the warmer the water the less oxygen content. The more oxygen a bass can get usually during the warmer months the more active it will be. Usually during the summer when the water temperature hits the 80 degree mark or higher, the oxygen in the water will start to diminish. What does this have in common with bass fishing? Cover is an extremely important element when it comes to a bass for many reasons here are a few of the most important ones. One reason would be for protection. Fly Fishing - In Search of the Chase

By Richard Chapo With fly fishing, sometimes it is all about the chase. Heres a day trip that looked unfruitful, but turned out alright in the end. Colorado Fly Fishing We put the raft in on a warm morning in Sept. without a cloud in sight. My expectations were not high, since a warm sunny day tends to put the fish down, at least on this stretch of the Colorado. When the fish arent rising, I go straight for tandem streamers; there is nothing more exciting than a big pissed off brown chasing your streamer off the bank in shallow fast moving water. Dredging the bottom with a nymph just doesnt do it for me. If I break out a nymphn rig, I must have exhausted all other options. The first quarter mile of water put a bleak outlook on the remaining 9 house of river ahead of us, not a single chase through some of the higher quality water on this stretch!! My invited guest on board had no experience throwing a heavy awkward tandem streamer rig, and was fairly discouraged after nearly throwing his shoulder out with only a handful of well-placed casts. I always talk of the exciting chases, but now; he must think I am full of it. I now know the frustration that guides must endure while watching miles of quality water go by without a singe well placed or completely untouched. There was probably a nice fish it that pocket we just passed, came out of my mouth far too many times than I care to recall. About 3 miles into our float, which is exactly what it had become, a sightseeing float, the weather began to change. Here came the clouds, an encouraging sign, of course unless the wind comes with it. Here came the wind, and next thing you know, our beautiful sightseeing float turned into a back rowing battle to keep the boat heading downstream. Luckily, this did not last long, but the rain did begin to fall. Within a few minuets after the rain subsided, the mayflies were swarming and the fish were rising. Were eddied out in several prime spots and began to catch fish in the swirling foam. Just about any well-placed cast was rewarded. Time went by unnoticed, until suddenly I realize that we had only traveled half way to our take out and more than half of the day was gone. Pushing through the slack water and hammering the moving water with the streamers was now becoming very productive. Finally, I could prove to my guest how exciting the chase could be. It seems that every other cast produced an aggressive brown, either territorial or just plain hungry. We landed several nice fish while powering through the final stretch, arriving at last light. what your contribution was. d. had to deal with stress in your career.
e. and many other stories revolving around typical interview questions

and functions of the job are, and lastly, the name and title of the
person interviewing and their role in the hiring process. 3. Plan ahead to wear comfortable clothing that suits this type of
interview. The usual mode these days is business attire. That could
mean different things to different companies. If you're not sure, call
ahead to either your interviewer or the HR department and ask. When in
doubt, dress more conservatively. You want to fit in and not feel self
conscious about your clothing choice during the interview. 4. Make sure you have the name and number of a contact person,
preferably the person you'll be meeting with. Stuff happens and when it
does you'll want to keep them informed of delays that may be beyond
your control. 5. Log on to Mapquest and get directions if you're not sure of their
exact location. You want to arrive well in advance so that you can get
there a little early so you can shift gears and collect your thoughts
before you walk in. 6. Remember to bring copies of your resume with you. One for yourself
and one for your interviewer and perhaps a spare one or two just in

having a copy in front of you can add to you sense of security. If
there are any other items you need, like a portfolio, bring this as
well. 7. Finally, don't place undue pressure on yourself. This is just one
interview. It's not "do or die". The last emotion you want to project
is one of neediness or desperation because you aren't either. Once you
walk in to the interview, your prep work has been done and you can feel
